The KitzSki linked ski area comprises Kitzbühel, Kirchberg and several other smaller ski areas. There is a long history of skiing in Kitzbühel, which was founded more than 125 years ago. Despite the great popularity of the "Kitz", most of the area's cultural character has been maintained and the town still emanates great warmth and traditional character. With more than 64 ski lifts, around 170km of ski slopes of all categories, an altitude drop of over 1000m and high-tech snow cannons, the KitzSki area would cut a fine figure even without the jet set visitors. All parts of the ski area are included in the KitzSki pass, and there are also options to buy lift tickets for specific ski areas.
Particularly famous for the Men’s Downhill Race on the Hahnenkamm ski slope, the lively and sophisticated ski resort of Kitzbühel has something for everyone, from beginners to experts and from the younger crowd to the more mature skier! If you're an off-piste fan, then speak to a few locals who will offer tips about where to go in the huge area where the possibililites are endless. Guides are recommended as the area is so vast! Snowboarders can enjoy the half pipe in the Kitzbüheler Horn snow park and various other facilities laid out just for their pleasure, and beginners have access to free nursery slopes near the village. The KitzSki area has one of the longest ski seasons in the Alps and is frequently one of the first Austrian ski areas to open its doors for the winter.
