Credited with kickstarting the après-ski scene in Europe, the Mooserwirt at St. Anton am Arlberg has kept the party going ever since and remains one of Europe’s most legendary après-ski institutions to this day. It’s located directly on the slopes, of course, which leads to some interesting evenings involving drunken revellers and a tangle of skis.
Repeatedly voted the most popular après-ski bar in the Alps, Hinterglemm's Goassstall offers litres of beer on tap and random goats – yes, goats. You won’t believe til you see it, so come on over and check it out for yourself!
France isn’t the first country that comes to mind when you think of après-ski, but La Folie Douce is the nation’s answer to anybody who dares to claim they don’t know how to party. With locations at Val Thorens, Alpe d'Huez and other famous ski resorts in the French Alps, Val Thorens is Europe’s coolest open-air club.

We at Snowplaza can vouch for the Almrausch at Sölden-Hochsölden: a small, steamy pub where you’ll make instant friends by bonding over corny song lyrics. The Almrausch is hidden behind a large wooden door; push through it and lose yourself in the music.
Students and party animals will have fond, albeit blurry, memories of La Grotte du Yeti, otherwise known as the Yetibar. Present in a dozen ski resort towns, La Grotte du Yeti is infamous for its après-ski parties. We recommend the location in Les Deux Alpes.
The yin to the Mooserwirt’s yang, the Krazy Kanguruh was just as fundamental in starting the Austrian après-ski scene. The Krazy Kanguruh has seen its fair share of debauchery in the day and seems in no danger of letting up. A must-see if you’re in St. Anton.

Born and raised in the ski paradise of Vancouver, Canada, I learned to ski before I can remember, balancing precariously on my parents’ skis as they sailed down the hill. I started snowboarding in my teens and am now delighted to be exploring everything Europe’s ski scene has to offer!
