51264 - 10 ski-in, ski-out ski resorts in Austria

Looking for ski-in, ski-out accommodation in Austria? In this article we've laid out 10 ski villages with slopeside hotels, chalets and apartments so you can ski straight out your front door and onto the pistes! Forget about ski bus schedules and car parks and book a convenient ski holiday this winter with no need to lug your skis halfway across town!

#1. Obertauern

Obertauern is surrounded by slopes on both sides, meaning most of the accommodation is ski-in, ski-out. In fact, some hotels in Obertauern are not even reachable by car! To get to these hotels, you must be picked up by a snowcat from the car park. It doesn't get much more ski-in, ski-out than that!

#2. Kühtai

The village of Kühtai is perched at an altitude of 2020m above sea level, making it the highest ski resort in Austria. Once you reach this beautiful place, you'll forget all about the bus or the car. All accommodation in Kühtai is located right on the slopes so all you have to do in the morning is step outside, appreciate the view and enjoy the freshly groomed slopes.

#3. Hochsölden

Hochsölden has a handful of ski-in, ski-out hotels and apartments. While the masses undertake the mushy and crowded valley run down to Sölden at the end of the afternoon, you can kick back and relax on your sofa with a glass of something nice to drink. The one drawback is that Hochsölden doesn't offer a lot of nightlife options, so you'll have to be content with relaxing in your room.

#4. Oberlech

Oberlech is a car-free town which puts an emphasis on nature and restfulness. Thanks to the high altitude (1750m), you're virtually guaranteed good snow cover during your ski holiday here. The pistes run right through the village, giving it a magical feel reminiscent of many French ski resorts. What can be more practical than having the slopes deliver you right to your front door?

#5. Turracher Höhe

Turracherhöhe is a snow-sure ski resort with a handful of authentic chalets and hotels clustered around a frozen mountain lake. This unique and magical place incorporates the ski area on all sides of the lake, meaning they are very easy to reach from your accommodation. Expect high-quality skiing and high-quality accommodation in this luxurious ski resort.
