Disability Snowsport UK launched their latest fundraising appeal last week and Snowplaza has joined forces with this innovative charity to help raise funds and awareness. Disability Snowsport UK launched a Crowdfunder Campaign on the 29th April which will run for 4 weeks. They hope to raise £15,000 to run one of their ski schools for people with disabilities for 1 year. At the heart of this crowdfunding appeal is the desire to increase opportunities, fitness, mobility, freedom, social interaction, independence and skills of people with disabilities, and to identify and nurture the abilities of young potential athletes.
Who are Disability Snowsport UK
Disability Snowsport UK is a charity that was started over 35 years ago by a group of like-minded people who wanted to share the joy and exhilaration of snow sports with their disabled friends and family. From a small group, they have grown into a national charity, allowing thousands of disabled people to discover the joys of snow sports. Disability Snowsport UK, believe that skiers and snowboarders with a disability should be able to ski alongside non-disabled people as equals at all ski facilities and ski resorts.
Disability Snowsport UK – from snowplough to the Paralympic Games!
Disability Snowsport UK relies on the support of donors to ensure that people with disabilities are not excluded from the joys of snow sports. With the money raised, they provide therapeutic, life-enhancing and exciting activities for individuals and groups who require adaptive equipment and special instruction and support. Their work takes many forms, such as dedicated adaptive snow sports schools, overseas activity weeks, a school and youth programme, thirteen local groups operating regularly across the UK and the provision of training for specialist instructors and volunteers. Additionally, Disability Snowsport UK have an elite programme in the form of the British Disabled Ski Team (BDST) through which we identify talented athletes who have the potential to compete in the Paralympic Games.
So what’s a Crowdfunder Campaign?
Crowdfunder.co.uk is an alternative means of funding that will allow Disability Snowsport UK to raise vital funds through the power of the crowd. This is achieved through people backing this project with pledges of money and receiving a reward from Disability Snowsport UK in return that reflects the money contributed, as a way of 'thanking' the backers. They have a number of attractive and exclusive awards on offer for a wide range of pledges, starting from as little as £5 and moving up to top-end company packages.

Crowdfunder
.co.uk is an 'all or nothing' platform - they need to raise 100% of their target to be successful and receive the monies pledged. As such, Disability Snowsport UK would greatly appreciate if you could spread the word about their Crowdfunder Campaign to your contacts, via your social media sites, and, most importantly, consider pledging for one of the rewards. Disability Snowsport UK will be continually advertising the Campaign on their Twitter account: @dsuksnowsport and Facebook pages. The wide circulation of the Campaign is vital if they are to be successful in reaching the £15,000 target.
