Jam-packed event calendar
The ski resort of Sun Peaks is situated near the city of Kamloops in interior British Columbia, Canada. The resort has a decent-sized but walkable village nestled right next to the slopes. There is a healthy smattering of events throughout the winter but not much of a crazy party scene, as this resort mostly attracts families. That being said, night owls might be interested in a fondue and live music evening at the Sunburst Lodge.
Sun Peaks is Canada’s second-largest ski area, with 4,270 acres of terrain. The skiing here is best for intermediate skiers, but neither beginners nor experts will be left wanting. Fresh powder abounds but if you’re keen to hit the slopes before everybody else, you can take advantage of a Fresh Tracks Breakfast. Winter events include an annual wine festival and a family-friendly cross-country race. Accommodation at Sun Peaks is mostly ski-in, ski-out.
Alternate activities
There is plenty to do at Sun Peaks. Ride a piste basher, take a jaunt over the snow on a fat bike or experience an authentic Canadian dogsled tour. Later, you can unwind in the spa or browse the little boutique shops for local crafts and clothing.
Restaurants and bars
The resort centre has a generous offering of restaurants serving delicious international cuisine, and the Voyageur Bistro serves traditional Canadian fare.
Families
The Sundance Kids’ Centre provides entertainment for children between the ages of 18 months and 5 years. Older children will appreciate the activities on offer at the Sun Peaks Family Cup.
