Chabanon-Selonnet is a small village in the department of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence in the Southern Alps. There are about 432 people living here at 1062 meters of altitude. Chabanon-Selonnet actually began as an Abbey, but is now best known for its Chabanon ski area. The village is very picturesque and quiet, making it ideal for families.
The small ski resort of Chabanon-Selonnet was, for a long time, just a sleepy mountain village until the construction of the ski area in 1970. The Chabanon ski area is now the main source of income for the village, which transforms into the ski resort of Chabanon-Selonnet in the winter months. The resort is especially suitable for families with young children, because the slopes are simple and the après-ski is quiet. However, there is a nightclub here! Chabanon-Selonnet has a number of historical sites of interest worth visiting, including an old church and a castle tower that once stood here. In the village of Chabanon-Selonnet there is also a heated indoor pool and several tennis courts.
