Skiing here continues even when the alpine pastures are completely green! Up on the Stilfserjoch, the largest glacier ski area in Europe, you can enjoy 30km of sparkling slopes and get a great tan while you're at it! There are over 70km of very close-knit ski slopes which lie below the Ortles mountain (South Tyrol's highest mountain with its peak at 3905m above sea level) made up of runs of all types, all of which are perfectly groomed and well maintained.
Skiers may be surprised by the sight of Tibetan yaks feeding in the surroundings and occasionally straying onto the slopes! Ski mountaineering and off-piste lovers will be delighted by this area as the options are endless. Beginners are in for a real treat here with a particularly high number of blue slopes to choose from. Sulden is one of the more popular ski resorts in this area particularly appreciated for its high-altitude skiing and traditional village atmosphere.
