Just 20km from Lillehammer
Sjusjøen Skisenter is a tiny ski area with just 7km of pistes. Built in 2003, this relatively new addition on the Norwegian ski scene is just 20km from Lillehammer/Hafjell, making it very doable to buy a Lillehammer ski pass if you run out of terrain. This gives you access to four ski areas: Lillehammer/Hafjell, Kvitfjell, Skeikampen and Gålå. But the real attraction here is the cross-country skiing, all staggering 350km of it. The network is connected with Lillehammer/Hafjell and the Olympic trails in the Birkebeiner ski stadium.
With several lifts and pretty runs through the trees, this is a lovely ski area for a relaxing weekend in Norway. There is a free practice area for children as well as a fun park for freestylers with assorted rails, jumps and boxes. There is also a biathlon area that is used for international competitions. Training here starts in October - take the opportunity to visit and learn a little bit about this rare sport! For the perfect end to the day, head to the Ski Pub for an après-ski beverage.
