Typical Swiss atmosphere
Practically unknown outside Switzerland, the Aletsch Arena ski area offers a great range of skiing with some particularly stunning views - including those over the World Heritage site of the Aletsch glacier. This ski area includes the ski resorts of Riederalp, Bettmeralp, Fiescheralp and Blatten-Belalp which lie on a high, sunny plateau above the villages of Mörel, Betten and Fiesch. These typical Swiss villages are situated at high altitude and being surrounded by many other smaller villages, together create a unique atmosphere. Car traffic is often forbidden in the resorts which creates a pleasant and relaxing feel. There is also no shortage of hiking or ski-mountaineering possibilities here too.
With such enchanting scenery all around, the splendid marathon ski runs provide an unforgettable experience. The ski areas are spread around the glacier and the variety of runs is large enough to satisfy all tastes. Riederalp is the most family-friendly resort with great children's facilities and plenty of doorstep skiing. A tunnel takes skiers to the jagged Bettmerhorn and many other steep mountains particularly sought after by snowboarders and the more adventurous skier. But don't worry, there are also red and blue runs for those who prefer relaxed skiing. There is a particularly wonderful 12km-long run from the Eggishorn which offers some stunning scenery while you stop to rest your legs!
