Ski area Powder Mountain Resort

Powder Mountain Resort in short

  • An hour from Salt Lake City Airport
  • Lift passes limited to 1500 per day
  • 100% natural snow

Powder Mountain Resort prides itself on its refusal to install snow cannons, meaning all the snow at the ski resort is 100% natural. About half the pistes on the mountain are ungroomed ‘powder runs’ that let skiers and snowboarders take advantage of this supposedly better-quality snow. In order to ensure stellar snow quality, Powder Mountain limits the sale of lift passes to 1500 per day, placing the ski resort among the least crowded of the major resorts in America.

The Sundown Chair and Hidden Lake Express offer plenty of opportunities for beginner and intermediate skiers and snowboarders to practise their skill on gentle groomed pistes. Around the back, Mary’s Bowl and Lefty’s Canyon take it to the next level with blue powder runs through tree-lined slopes. Freestylers can explore two snow parks which boast naturally inspired features, jumps for every level and a boardercross. As well as complimentary tours of the mountain for beginners and intermediates, Powder Mountain also offers catskiing tours for expert skiers who want to explore the extensive off-piste terrain surrounding the in-bounds ski area.
