Samnaun is tucked in the farthest corner of Graubünden, separated from the rest of Switzerland by a chain of 3000m mountain peaks. This partially pedestrian ski resort consists of various small villages at altitudes ranging from 1700 to 1840 metres. Connecting the local ski area to Ischgl has granted Samnaun a serious boost in its reputation, although Samnaun has managed to retain much of its original appearance and the charm of a typical Swiss winter sports village. Today the Ischgl - Samnaun - Silvretta Arena is one of the most popular ski areas in the Alps. Because of its remote character the Swiss authorities granted the village tax freedom, turning it into a duty-free haven. A great plus point for tourists while on their ski holidays in Samnaun!
The Silvretta Arena Ischgl-Samnaun is one of the most important ski resorts in the Eastern Alps. From Samnaun Ravaisch you can access the slopes of the Silvretta Arena via several different lifts. In the area immediately surrounding Samnaun the slopes are not too difficult; the more challenging pistes lie on the Ischgl side. In total, the Silvretta Arena Ischgl-Samnaun has 240km of slopes at your disposal. At the end of the day, you should definitely venture to one of the two Duty Free runs, the beautiful valley runs to Samnaun. In poor weather, you can visit the swimming paradise of Alpenquell, the highest swimming pool in Switzerland at 1715m.
